Partners Specialty Pharmacy is a not-for-profit wholly owned subsidiary of Partners HealthCare targeted to open in late summer 2017. The Partners Specialty Pharmacy will serve Partners Healthcare patients from a centrally managed location in the Boston area with support from local entity clinics and pharmacy departments.

The Partners Specialty Pharmacy will deliver high quality services with an emphasis on patient education, service excellence and comprehensive care management. Partners Specialty Pharmacy will serve as an integral link between patient and provider, efficiently providing first-rate service to optimize patient outcomes and achieve organizational financial goals. Therapeutic areas of focus will include Hematology, Oncology, inflammatory conditions, Hepatitis C, HIV/AIDS and Multiple Sclerosis

The Pharmacy Filling Technician will provide customer service, assist in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies, handle credit card transactions, receive patient prescriptions, unpack/verify stock-to-invoices and help maintain the pharmacy in proper order.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as assigned:

* Receive prescriptions from patients and clinicians; gather customer information per department policy.

* Prepare prescription drug therapy for patients in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory agencies and Partners Specialty Pharmacy Policy

* Assist the pharmacist in identifying patient problems and issues

Assist customers with prescriptions and/or other products:

* Complete special orders to meet customer needs

* Demonstrate ability to respond to customer/co-worker questions or concerns in an appropriate and customer-focused manner

Assist the manager in training of new staff and provide appropriate feedback as necessary.

Handle credit card transactions accurately.

Package medications as necessary to ensure safe handling and appropriate temperature control in mail service delivery. Complete all documentation necessary for tracking purposes:

* Ship medications, supplies and equipment to patients, or other areas as assigned

Assist in maintenance of the pharmacy to reflect a clean and well-stocked condition on a daily basis:

* Ensure each product has a POS shelf label

Process prescription information in the computer system:

* Help in the maintenance of pharmacy billing records

* Assist in complete and accurate billing of third party pay plans

Assist in inventory control functions:

* Maintain stock of inventory in assigned areas

* Receive, unpack, and check incoming stock against invoices and put into inventory

* Process recalls and returns when necessary

* Help in the maintenance of pharmacy billing records

Complete the work of a pharmacy technician as required:

* Cross train and cover all department technician areas assigned

* Assist in maintenance of the pharmacy to reflect a clean and well stocked condition on a daily basis

* Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis with other Specialty Pharmacy team members to address urgent issues that arise outside of normal business hours

* Minimum of 1 year Pharmacy technician experience required.

* Must be a registered pharmacy technician with Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy; CPhT-Certified Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Massachusetts required. National Certified Pharmacy Technician

* One year retail and/or pharmacy experience required; One to three years' experience in a call center preferred.

* Specialty Pharmacy experience preferred.

* Experience with Epic and/or Enterprise Rx preferred.
